Officials said that the Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark

New Delhi: After Uttarakhand, floods is creating havoc in Assam with over one lakh people across the state and farmlands in 10 districts badly hit by it. Morigaon and Dhemaji are the worst affected areas.

Officials said that the Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark in various parts of the state due to incessant rainfall. Neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh also facing the brunt of overflowing Brahmaputra.

Earlier this week, the Assam government had sounded red alert in four districts following a warning from the Meteorological Department.

Following this, district administrations in Sonitpur, North Lakhimpur, Golaghat and Barpeta had started taking steps to face any adverse situation.
