Madhya Pradesh BJP unit has said, Opposition Congress in the state has no leader to match the stature of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
"It is quite obvious that the Congress does not have any leader who can match Chouhan in stature," BJP MP unit's joint spokesman Umesh Sharma told on Sunday.
Congress did not declare its chief ministerial nominee, not by way of strategy but because it had no alternative, Sharma said. In the faction-ridden Congress, if one person was named as the chief ministerial candidate, other party leaders would start working against him, he added.
Congress spokesman Narendra Saluja, however, said that his party does not have a tradition of naming a chief ministerial nominee before the elections.
"I am sure that this will not harm the interests of the Congress," Saluja said. Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh is slated to take place later this year.
