San Martin: Arjun Atwal shot three birdies on either side of the course and scored better than his friend and former World No 1 Tiger Woods enroute to a card of 67 that saw him finish tied 24th at the Frys.com Open at the CordeValle Course on the PGA Tour.
As Atwal finished at eight-under 280, Woods shot 68 and finished at seven-under and in tied 30th on Monday.
It was a good move up for Atwal, who after beginning on the tenth had a bogey on 11th, but then birdied the 13th, 15th and 17th to turn in two-under.
He birdied second, third and fourth to get to six-under but a bogey on fifth meant he finished with a card of 67.
Bryce Molder won the title on the sixth play-off with Briny Baird after being tied 17-under 267.
Baird looked like having won when he chipped in from the edge of the 17th for an eagle in regulation to go one ahead. But Molder rolled a 12-foot birdie on 18th to get to 64 and into the play-off.
