Melbourne: Australia will play European champions Greece in a World Cup warm-up football match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on May 25, the Football Federation Australia (FFA) said on Thursday.
Australia, who have qualified for their first World Cup finals' appearance in 32 years, decided on Melbourne, which has a large Greek expatriate community.
It will be the Greek national team's first appearance in Australia since 1978.
FFA chairman Frank Lowy said Australia would field a full-strength team against Greece before the squad heads over to Germany, where they will play Japan, World Cup champions Brazil and Croatia in their group.
Lowy also announced an agreement with the Victoria state government for Australia to stage an international in Melbourne in each of the next four years.
