Awarapan creates history, to release in Pakistan

New Delhi: The latest film from the Bhatts' Vishesh Films banner Awarapan, has been cleared by the Pakistan Federal Film Censor Board in Lahore and is scheduled for a theatrical release there.

Director Mahesh Bhatt's latest production was cleared for a release on Wednesday after some dialogues that put Pakistan in a negative light were edited out of the film.

Awarapan is now scheduled to release in Pakistan this Friday.

While Hindi films like Pooja Bhatt's Paap and Mughal-e-Azam have seen a limited release or part of film festivals in Pakistan recently, Awarapan is one of the first few Bollywood films which will a full-fledged theatrical release in the country.

Starring Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran and Mrinalini Sharma, Awarapan released in India on June 29.

Incidentally, Awarapan was the first film from the Bhatt camp to have a wide overseas release last week, courtesy of Studio 18 International.

Indian films are officially banned in Pakistan.
