New Delhi: Former prime minister V P Singh and expelled Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar on Sunday announced a new political party called the ‘Jan Morcha’.
"The new outfit would be the political front of the Kisan Morcha launched few years ago", Singh said.
Singh said his Kisan Manch had been working for the cause of women, farmers and the youth, and it was time for the Manch to have a political wing. Raj Babbar will be the national president of the party.
Singh said the Jan Morcha, in adjustment with other like-minded parties, would participate in polls and its first target would be Uttar Pradesh, slated to go to Assembly polls early next year.
Babbar, said he would be fulfilling the responsibility bestowed on him and announced that the Morcha will organise "Dera Daalo, Ghera Daalo" programme in Lucknow on May 29 to protest against the state government's policies towards these sections of the society as also growing lawlessness and corruption.
“The 'Dera Daalo' agitation would be attended by all the leaders of the ‘like-minded parties’ who have extended their support to the new front,” Babbar added.
Singh also said CPI (ML) was supportive to the cause of the new Morcha, adding that talks with other parties were on.
He said Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh had agreed to be part of the Morcha, but since he is part of Samajwadi Party-led government in UP, "we have to review our stand".
About his recent meeting with UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh, his brother Ram Gopal Yadav and Amar Singh, he said it was related to the land allotted to Reliance Group of Industries and composition of UP Development Council which has no reprehensive from farming and weaving sector.
