PARADIP: Activists of Gana Sangathan have called for a bandh on Friday to protest police inaction in the Kujang cracker incident.A month has passed since the firecracker incident that has so far claimed four lives, but none has been arrested.The police registered a case against Barbati-Cuttack legislator Debasish Samantray, Biju Worker’s Union secretary Sarad Mohapatra and two other BJD leaders, Babuni Samantray and Gobind Nayak on Wednesday following a directive of a local court. However, there is no mention of the organisers, legislator Bishnu Das and School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena in the case registered under the Explosive Substances Act.Demanding a judicial probe into the incident, the activists have threatened to block rail and road traffic at Kujang, Paradip and Balitutha.Meanwhile, IG (Crime Branch) Susant Nath discussed the case with local police at Kujang police station on Wednesday. He also visited the accident spot.
