Bangalore: Indian Institute of Bangalore (IIM) Bangalore has sacked its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) accused of sexually harassing a lady doctor. The woman had been sacked after she had filed the complaint.
She, employed to cater to the IIM-Bangalore students and faculty, later turned Citizen Journalist on CNN-IBN to highlight the case after the institute failed to take strict action against officer.
In an email to all his staff, IIM-B director Dr Pankaj Chandra said that Indu Shekar Vassisht has been sacked as CAO following an enquiry into the complaints against him.
The doctor later approached the women's commission, as well as complained to the local police about the harassment and at the same time a gender sensitivity committee of the institute was asked to inquire into her complaint.
The committee recommended his dismissal in mid-2012, but IIM-Bangalore took its time in acting on that.
