BANGALORE: Two scooter-borne unidentified miscreants diverted the attention of bank staffers and escaped with Rs 45 lakh cash on the Diagonal Road near South End Circle on Wednesday. According to the police, the money belonged to Arjun Souharda Cooperative Bank located in Malleswaram and the miscreants duped the car driver Krishnaiah and a staffer, Anand. Reportedly, the Bank had its financial dealings with Indian Bank and on Thursday, it had received a cheque for Rs 45 lakh from a customer. It is that the staffers were directed to bring the money from Indian Bank’s Gandhi Bazaar branch, where it had an account. Anand along with Krishnaiah went to the bank and withdrew Rs 30 cash lakh at around 12.15 pm. Later, they went to Indian Bank’s another branch, (Jayanagar) near South End Circle and withdrew Rs 15 lakh at around 1.45 pm.“On their way back near the Diagonal Road, two unidentified men on a scooter and informed them that the car’s front wheel was punctured. The duo in the car got down and found it was punctured. While they were changing the wheel, the miscreants escaped with the cash bag,” the police added.In another such incident reported in the City Market police station limits on Wednesday evening, Surendra Mehta, owner of a medical shop, was duped by a miscreant who escaped with his Rs 10 lakh.  The police said that Mehta had borrowed the cash from his friend.
