Beckham back and hungry for more
Beckham back and hungry for more
A few weeks ago, Beckham's career seemed over. But now, he's two wins away from earning his first silverware in Spain.

New Delhi: David Beckham's career with the England football team was deemed to be over after he was dropped in August 2006.

However, the axing had not much affect on the midfielder who has been in sparkling form for his club Real Madrid this season.

And when England coach Steve McLaren finally took Beckham back in the squad, he showed his superb form against Brazil and Estonia in a friendly and the Euro 2008 qualifier respectively.

Beckham has been through one of the most turbulent phases in his life in the last one year after he was dropped by McLaren and then snubbed by Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello.

He then moved to the United States with LA Galaxy - a deal which would give him more money but gradually take him away from the limelight.

But as fate would have it, Beckham has changed his destiny yet again.

"It's just nice to be back in the team and back in the squad and back with the lads. I think I've enjoyed the last couple of weeks being with the team and playing obviously the first game at Wembley against Brazil and then the qualifier yesterday and we got two good results so, yes, it was nice," says Beckham.

A few weeks ago, his career seemed over but now, he's two wins away from earning his first silverware in Spain with Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, McLaren will thank his lucky stars as the man he sacked has saved his job.

"I think the bigger the game the better for us, for me, you know, I enjoy playing on big occasions, I enjoy playing important games but you can only enjoy it if you win it, if you win games and play well so hopefully that will happen next weekend," Beckham adds.

Fortune favours the brave and for Beckham it is his sheer ability that has come to his aid.
