CHENNAI: Former Indian cricket team captain and chairman of the All India Senior Selection Committee of  Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Krishnamachari Srikkanth received the Bharathi Award here on Sunday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the ace cricketer said that he was honoured to receive the award. The award was presented to Srikkanth on the occasion of the birth anniversary celebrations of Tamil poet Bharathiyar, organised by the Vanavil Cultural Centre. Zephra championZephra Currimbhoy, with Samaria, Arjun and Navaz as crew members, emerged overall winners in the Omega Class at the Merchants & Professional Regatta here on sunday. Deep Rekhi with M Vidya as crew bagged the second place in the 420 class and the third place was won by Abhimanyu in the Laser Radial. The races were run on the Pursuit Mode possibly for the first time in the country. Support on water was provided by the Navy and Coastguard.
