Bihar Govt Issues Notice to IAS Officers Over Human Chain
The Bihar government has issued a show-cause notice to over 28 IAS officers in the state, asking them to explain why they left the headquarters to participate in an IAS association meeting and formed a human chain in the prohibited area outside Raj Bhavan.

Patna: The Bihar government has issued a show-cause notice to over 28 IAS officers in the state, asking them to explain why they left the headquarters to participate in an IAS association meeting and formed a human chain in the prohibited area outside Raj Bhavan.

The officers have to reply to the notice within three days. The IAS officers were protesting against the arrest of a senior colleague, Sushir Kumar, in connection with the question paper leak scam. Kumar has been behind bars for 16 days after being held responsible for the scam in his capacity as Chairman of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). As Sudhir Kumar enjoys the reputation of being an honest, upright officer, his colleagues have bee backing him and are protesting against his arrest.

As an SIT (Special Investigation Team) picked up Kumar from his Hazaribagh residence, over 50 IAS officers, including secretaries and District Magistrates, held a meeting in Patna and formed the human chain. An IAS officers’ delegation had also met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary to apprise them of the situation.

Nitish Kumar has, however, maintained a tough posture on the issues, saying he would “look into the details” of the IAS officers’ memorandum. “Let it come. I’ll take a decision which will prove to be a milestone,” Kumar had said on the floor of the Assembly.

The government has also been embarrassed by IAS officers wearing black ribbons to work.
