'Mandar Mahotsav' is celebrated in lieu of the Makar Sankranti festival in eastern states.
Banka: At least two people were killed in a stampede at the ongoing 'Mandar Mahotsav' in Bihar's Banka district.
"Preliminary inquiry suggest that stampede was caused after either a clash between two groups or rumours of fire when hundreds were watching vulgar dance at a theatre in the fair after Tuesday midnight," a district police official said.
According to police officials one of the victims was a local resident while the other was from a neighbouring district. .
The injured have been admitted in different hospitals.
Some people complained that there was no arrangement for proper light and security at the fair.
'Mandar Mahotsav' is celebrated in lieu of the Makar Sankranti in the eastern states.
