Bihar's official job searchers fail big
Employment exchanges in state could find jobs for only two persons in 2004; year before that their record was 22.

New Delhi: Don’t depend on employment exchanges in Bihar for finding you a job. The exchanges provided jobs to a grand total of two persons in 2004, the latest survey shows.

Even remote the Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands did better than Bihar that year by providing jobs to 47 people.

Jharkhand, which was once part of Bihar, provided jobs to eight people that year. In 2003, Bihar did better and provided jobs to 22 people, said a PTI report which quoted unnamed government officials..

Employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu seemed to be the most active with highest number of graduates and post-graduates getting job placement.

With 5,878 jobless getting employed through the state employment exchanges in 2004, Tamil Nadu accounted for one-fourth of entire country's successful placements through the exchanges.

In terms of relative high job placements, Tamil Nadu is followed by Gujarat (2601), Maharashtra (2394), Kerala (1892), Uttrakhand (1712) and West Bengal (1626).

There are 52,52,500 graduates and postgraduates registered in employment exchanges in 2004 from which only 20,241 got the job - meaning just two persons out of a 1000 employment-seekers make to getting a job though the exhanges.
