The girlfriend of the key accused, Mihir Shah (24), is being suspected of helping him hide. Cops also suspect Mihir Shah, who is the son of senior leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, was driving the BMW, the broadcaster said.

Nakhwa, who died when the accused lost control of his luxury car, was travelling with her husband Pradip on the arterial Annie Besant Road. The accident happened in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Mihir Shah is absconding and the police have launched a manhunt to nab him.

The couple was going to Worli Koliwada from Mazagaon Docks to fetch fish. The couple are fishermen folk and were returning home when Shah, who the police suspect was driving and the driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, knocked down the couple’s scooter as they lost control of the speeding car.

In that tragic accident, two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh were killed when a Porsche driven by an allegedly intoxicated minor collided with their motorcycle.
