The man had been texting obscene messages to Bollywood actresses.

Mumbai: The Mumbai police have arrested a resident of Hyderabad for sending obscene and threatening messages to leading film actresses.

Mairaj Rahman has been remanded to police custody for harassing Kareena Kapoor, Smriti Mishra, Poonam Dhillon and Deepti Naval.

He has also been charged with conning upcoming models of their money and passports by promising them roles in well-known director Mani Ratnam?s films.

The police received a written complaint from Kareena in September asking them to make enquiries into the matter.

Actress Smriti Mishra says Rahman has been harassing her for the past one year.

?He said used to send me messages saying ?I really like you. You're a beautiful person. I know other actresses and they are not nice. But you are really nice?,? she said.

The police tracked Rahman down and discovered that he had bought various SIM cards by giving false addresses so his number would not be easily recognised.

Smriti Mishra says she was instrumental in helping the Bandra police lure Rahman to Mumbai so he could be arrested.

Rahman is facing 10 charges of cheating and making threats under the Criminal Procedure Code.

Interrogations revealed that there are already five criminal cases registered against him in Hyderabad and he had been harassing these women while out on bail.

Rahman confessed to the charges. ?I'm paying for what I did, and I'll never do it again,? he said.

What's your reaction?
