Western Railway souces said they received a call at 1625 hrs IST. Trains to the city were stopped at Bandra, while those to the suburbs were stopped at Lower Parel.

The bomb squad along with the dog squad conducted search operations at these stations.

Train services resumed at 1715 hrs IST after the stations were declared safe.

As a measure of precaution, passengers' baggage is being screened at the entrance of railway stations.

Security has been spruced up following the seven blasts that ripped across Mumbai's Western Railway line on July 11 that killed 183 and injured over 800 people.
