MANGALORE: The state government will not close Kannada medium schools in border areas for the reason of lesser strength of students, assured Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, on Wednesday.At the inauguration of Kannada Nudi Teru, an awareness campaign on Kannada, at Sullia on Wednesday, he said that the state government decided to run Kannada medium schools in border areas, in spite of poor strength of students, in order to preserve Kannada language, he added.Gowda assured the release of Rs. 15 crore for the coastal districts.to improve infrastructure facilities.He said that the state government would ensure utilisation of the grant for construction of hanging bridges and minor bridges in the region, to improve connectivity in the rural areas.The CM informed that he had set a deadline of fifteen days to clear the files at all the state government offices.He said the in-charge secretaries appointed for the districts should ensure the task of clearing files and a better governance.The district in-charge secretaries should be in their districts concerned for atleast two days to monitor the works, he said, revealing his plans to install 24X7 CCTVs at his residential office in Bangalore to ensure better administration.The CCTV installations will help in receiving complaints too, he added.Gowda laid the foundation stone for Dakshina Kannada district’s first Kannada Bhavan at Sullia.Dream of Department Kannada and Culture and Sullia Kannada Sahitya Parishat will be realised with the construction of Kannada Bhavan from the special grant of Kannada Development Authority, within a year.It was a happy home-coming to Chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda as he received honour from citizens of his native place.He also visited many places in Sullia including a taluk court, to recall his young age profession as an advocate.He visited the house of educationist Kurunji Venkataramana Gowda, and many of the temples in the region.
