Bangalore: A 14-year-old girl committed suicide in Bangalore after her relationship ended. Her mother has been inconsolable as she struggles to deal with the death of her daughter, a class nine student in Bangalore. The police have now arrested the accused for rape and abetting suicide.
The girl allegedly took her own life after being dumped by her 20-year-old boyfriend on Facebook. In her suicide note, she reportedly said she began dating Manoj, a B.Com student, two months ago after meeting him on Facebook.
"The boy contacted her on Facebook, asked for her mobile number. They started talking. Later, when her father discovered this, he warned her to stay away from him," said a relative of the victim.
The girl continued to chat with Manoj from cyber cafes. But a month into their relationship, he is alleged to have told her it was all for fun. "She was not given a mobile phone at home. She used to use her mother's phone to talk to the boy," said the girl's neighbour.
