8 Bangladesh women have escaped from the Mira Road police lock-up in Thane by twisted the weak window bars.
Thane: Police confirmed that eight Bangladeshi women, lodged in the Mira Road police lock-up, have escaped. The incident took place on Friday following which four lady constables have been suspended for dereliction of their duties.
The Navghar Police in Bhayander had arrested 21 people, including these eight Bangladeshis, on various charges of staying in Thane illegally.
As there was no provision for a ladies lock-up in Naghar police station, they were lodged in Mira Road on Thursday night.
The women allegedly twisted the weak bars of the lock-up window and gave a slip to the police in the early hours. All have been booked under section 224 of the IPC and a hunt is on for them, police added.
