New Delhi: The traditional dress of the Muslim women, the burqa, now has a 'haute' new look.

The black-cloth is being replaced by fancy fabrics like chiffon, georgette or crepe, mostly imported from Dubai and Malaysia. These designer burqas are also embellished with accessories as crystals and semi-precious stones.

A crystal-studded (Swarovski) burqa comes with a price tag of over Rs 3,000 as compared to a traditional ready made burqa, which costs between Rs 1500 and 6,000. A bridal burqa, designed in crystals, costs above Rs 15,000.

Despite high prices, the demand for designer burqas is only increasing. And with the help of CAD (computer aided design), customers can also see the designs and patterns of burqas before placing orders.
