CHENNAI: A 28-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured when an MTC bus knocked him down at Chetpet on Tuesday night.Around 10 pm, A Punyakodi (28) of Melmaruvathur was proceeding from Nungambakkam to Parrys when the mishap took place, sources said. When he was on Spurtank Road in Chetpet, he allegedly made a left-turn on the one-way route and was hit by an oncoming MTC bus. He was admitted to the government general hospital with severe head injuries. Sources said the youth was apparently not aware of the traffic diversions made in the wake of the overflowing of the Chetpet lake and inundation of the area. There was tension in the locality, as residents blocked the road in protest. Senior cops arrived on the scene and pacified the protesters, who later dispersed.
