TRIPUNITHURA: The token strike by a section of private bus workers belonging to the CITU affected normal life in Tripunithura and surrounding areas. The strike was in protest against the alleged police action against a bus conductor on Tuesday. The Tripunithura police made special arrangements, including police vans and jeeps used in AR camp, to mitigate the sufferings of passengers. However, the effort was not fully effective as people had to depend on light vehicles which charged fares ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 40 to Ernakulam.Meanwhile, the striking workers took out a protest march in the town shouting slogans against police atrocity. Police jeeps served from morning to evening to help students reach their exam venues. Special services were also rolled out by the KSRTC.
