London: Honda's Jenson Button would like to see his home fans get a soaking at next week's British Formula One Grand Prix.

Button, still without a win in 107 starts, believes a wet race is his best chance of matching the pace of champions Renault and a resurgent Ferrari at the fast and flowing Silverstone circuit.

"We need anything that will shake things up," British newspapers quoted the 26-year-old as saying.

"In one way, I want it to be a great weekend for the fans but our car would be as good in the wet as the dry.

"There is more chance of other people making mistakes and that would give us a chance to capitalise."

The last British driver to win his home grand prix was David Coulthard, now driving for Red Bull, with McLaren in 2000. Button finished fifth last year.
