London: Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz insists that the soon-to-be-conducted surgery on her nose is not for a cosmetic reason but to correct a medical condition.
The Charlie’s Angels star revealed that breaking her nose four times has left it rather damaged, and that unlike other people’s noses, only one of her nostril works.
Cameron is now desperate to get it repaired so that she can breathe in peace once again.
“My face is very important to me. I don't want to change it. I'm kind of sentimental and attached to it, oddly,” the Daily Mail quoted her, as saying.
And though the perky blonde admits that she could also take the opportunity to “rearrange a few things” during her nose operation, she’s happy with what she has been given naturally.
“I should take the opportunity to maybe rearrange a few things while I'm having the nose operation, but I'm happy with what I've got. And it's not about how you wear your skin, it's about how you feel in it,” she said.
Cameron is also not ready to slam people who undergo plastic surgery, for she feels that the reason they go under the knife, is because they don’t feel comfortable enough in their own skin.
“Different people need different things to feel comfortable in their skin. And who am I to judge? If it takes someone having surgery, injecting something or changing their hair colour, then that's what they should do,” she said.
“All of us go through a transformation every day when we put on make-up and clothes, and it's all about how we choose to do that. It's about how comfortable you are with yourself,” Cameron insisted.
Cameron had recently revealed that she would be going under the surgeon’s knife to get her nose fixed, albeit for medical and not cosmetic reasons.
"My ear, nose and throat doctor said nostrils only work one at a time, I think. I only have one that works at any point, so when it's off, the other one doesn't come on. They're going to swipe it through. It's not cosmetic, it's just for breathing purposes. Half the oxygen isn't working for me any longer," she had earlier said
"There are moments where I can't remember things and I'm going to blame it on lack of oxygen. They're just going to go in and fix the bones. The septum is like a derailed train. It piles up on itself a few times. It's not cosmetic, it's purely medical," she added.
Cameron will be in good hands however, for she had been consulting Dr Raj Kanodia, the same Beverly Hills surgeon who is reportedly responsible for giving Ashlee Simpson a new nose.
