Melbourne: Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds said his team's recent military-style boot camp will go a long way in resolving ego clashes between players.
Although they were largely a well-knit team, Symonds admitted there were issues and clashes that happened behind closed doors.
"Let's be honest, in a team like this, not everyone is going to be able to get on with everyone. Sometimes it's
difficult to get two blokes who are banging heads to sit down and work things out," he was quoted as saying in The Age on Sunday.
"Boys will be boys and we don't always see eye-to-eye. We don't always want to. If everything is yes sir, no sir, three bags full, sir, it'd be boring."
Symonds said the camp would help the players to understand each other better.
"I think now it'll be very achievable to fix things if they become slightly cracked or broken. It was immeasurable
what we got out of it for the team, the man, the individual.
"Realising what's important to people and a group and a team was good. Everyone says, 'You're a close team', which we are, but it's opened our eyes up to how close we can really be. We learned a lot about ourselves and all the other blokes.
"You look at one of the guys and think, 'There's no way in the world he's going to get up that hill', but he gets
there with the help of the boys. It showed me how to defuse certain situations."
