BERHAMPUR: Even as Gosaninuagaon Police in the city registered a case against Jana Adhikar Manch convenor Dandapani Mohanty and Chasi Mulia Sangha (CMS) convenor Nachika Linga, along with three others for alleged links with the Maoists, the CMS described it as an attempt to demoralise the tribals. The police on Friday had arrested Nachika Saka, Bijay Tading and Kurulu Tading from the railway station. The police claimed to have seized ` 5,000 and 1,500 Maoist leaflets from their possession. The three were produced in a court and remanded to 14-day judicial custody. Stating that the arrest was uncalled for, CMS and JAM leaders said the three were in the city to invite guests for a tribal convention scheduled to be held at Narayanapatana in Koraput.The police, however, recorded their statement on Saturday and based on it included the names of Mohanty and Linga. The police said Mohanty used to send Maoist leaflets to Linga and he had sent the three to collect them from the railway station.A case has been registered against the five under the Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act.
