Jharkhand High Court on Monday granted bail to former Ranchi Mayor Rama Khalkho, who was arrested in connection with a case of cash-for-votes during the mayoral elections this year.
The court of Justice HC Mishra allowed the bail plea of Khalkho, who had surrendered to the special vigilance court on June 4. An FIR was slapped against Khalkho and two others after Rs 21.9 lakh had been recovered from a hotel in Ranchi and that the cash was allegedly kept for electoral malpractice ahead of the mayoral elections, which led the state election commission to scrap the April 8 polls.
