KOCHI: The Crime Branch (Organised Crime Wing) officials led by investigation officer Biju K Stephan on Thursday registered the arrest of terror convict Thadiyantavide Nazir at Ernakulam sub-jail in connection with a robbery held at Kizhakkambalam in June 2002.Nazir is the first accused in the case. He is accused of hatching the plot for the robbery. The Crime Branch also took two accomplices of Nazir, K P Shabeer and Ismail to the house of another accused in the case, Thajudheen, at Vedimara near Paravoor for collecting evidence and identification of the accused by the witnesses.The Crime Branch officials spoke to the local residents and they identified the duo. The bombs used in the case were made by Thadiyantavide Nazir and K P Sabir, brother of K P Shabeer, at the house of Thajudheen.“We spoke to the local people and many said that a gang, including the arrested persons and Thadiyantavide Nazir regularly visited the house of Thajudheen. We also spoke to the family members of Thajudheen. They are very sad that their son had worked against the nation,” Biju said.After interrogating Ismail and Shabeer, the Crime Branch came to know that they fled to HMT Junction after robbing the jeweller at Kizhakkambalam. “After reaching HMT Junction they hired an autorickshaw and went to Aluva. At Aluva, they gave more money to the autorickshaw driver than he demanded. In the hurry, they forgot the bag containing swords and other weapons in the autorickshaw,” the Crime Branch official said.
