HYDERABAD: In fresh trouble for YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, the CBI on Wednesday filed an FIR against him in Andhra Pradesh in connection with a disproportionate assets case. The agency also filed a petition in a special court in Hyderabad seeking its permission to conduct searches at his premises. The search operations are expected soon and special teams have been formed, CBI sources said in Hyderabad. The CBI action came even as the former Congress leader and son of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy moved the Supreme Court challenging the Andhra Pradesh High Court's order directing CBI to have a thorough inquiry against him for his alleged disproportionate assets. Reddy contended that the August 10 order of the High Court was not a reasoned decision. The High Court, in its order, had directed CBI to take their probe into the case to its logical end and ordered a thorough inquiry by CBI into the alleged disproportionate assets of Jagan after registering a criminal case.A division bench comprising Chief Justice Nissar Ahmad Kakru and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar had also asked the investigating agency to inquire into the alleged irregularities of land allotment to Emaar by the then Rajasekhara Reddy government and dilution of the stake of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructural Corporation (APIIC) in joint venture with Emaar for the development of township on the city outskirts.State Handlooms and Textile Minister P Shankar Rao, three members of main opposition TDP, and a Kadapa-based lawyer had filed a petition in the court seeing a CBI inquiry into the companies that had invested in Jagan's businesses to allegedly win favours in the form of land allotments and mining leases from the then government led by Jagan's father YS Rajasekhara Reddy. YSR Congress chief moves SC in assets caseNEW DELHI: YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the Andhra Pradesh High Court order directing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register a case and investigate allegations that he had amassed huge wealth.Jaganmohan Reddy filed his plea Tuesday and it is likely to come up in court later this week. The allegations against him were made by state minister P. Shankar Rao.The YSR Congress chief challenged the Aug 8 direction of the high court and contended that the CBI investigation was ordered without there being any adverse finding against him.The petition said that the high court should have granted Jaganmohan Reddy an opportunity of perusing the preliminary report of the investigating agency.Referring to the July 22 apex court order, he said that the apex court had said that "in case the high court wants to proceed against the petitioner, the principle of natural justice has to be complied with".The petition said that the high court pre-judged his guilt by saying that "glaring illegalities are writ large", as a result of which the allegations of possible mala fides against Shankar Rao were of no consequence.Jaganmohan Reddy contended that Shankar Rao dragged him to court on account of political rivalry.
