HYDERABAD: The CBI seemed to have been inspired by Karl Marx's Das Kapital and was building a case that bail should not be granted to his client Koneru Prasad, key accused in the Emaar case, since he was involved in economic offences which it thought were more dangerous than other crimes, lawyer Ram Jethmalani said in the special CBI court here on Friday.“The CBI opposes bail to the accused stating those who are involved in economic offences are more dangerous than those arrested on murder charges. This argument can be found in Das Kapital too where the author desires that such people should be hanged.Fortunately, the law of the land will not consider such arguments,'' Jethmalani said. Heated arguments took place between Jethmalani and CBI's deputy legal adviser B Ravindranath before magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma reserved his order till February 24. “If the court grants bail to Prasad, he may influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidence at a time when investigation is in a crucial stage,'' the CBI counsel said.
