BANGALORE: To promote the importance of sacred plants and trees, Heritage, a non-profit trust is organising ‘Gudiya Sambhrama-the Bangalore Temple Festival 2012’ at various traditional temples in the city from January 20 to March 11. It is being organised  in association with Muzrai Department. The trust will be distributing sacred plants to all heritage temples in the city for free of cost.Announcing this at the press conference on Thursday, Vijayalakshmi V, secretary of Heritage organisation said, “We have discussed the issue with the temple authorities and have listed the samplings which they are interested to grow and maintain. We will be planting the samplings on the day of the cultural festivals at the respective temples.”Vijayalaksmi also said that they are into discussion with the BBMP for planting samplings at various places in the city.  “The general public who come to the cultural festival can purchase the sacred plants they wish after going through the booklet which will explain the benefits and scientific uses of sacred trees,” said Supriya Komandur, Joint Secretary, Heritage.A poster campaign about the sacred trees will be a part of the cultural festival which will take place at heritage temples in Friday, Saturday and Sunday.More than 250 well-known artistes from all over the country will take part in the cultural festival starting from 6 pm. There will be Sangeetha Nritya Kainkaryam at the temples related to the venue.
