BANGALORE: The Lokayukta Police filed a charge-sheet against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy alleging illegal land denotification of government land in 2007 when he was the CM.Besides Kumaraswamy, former minister C Chennigappa, Raviprakash and Sriram, who were erstwhile owners of the land, have been charged under various IPC sections, including 420 (cheating), 120(b) (criminal conspiracy) and Prevention of Corruption Act. Lokayukta court judge N K Sudhindra Rao posted the case to April 21 for orders. Close on the heels of filing of charge-sheet, Kumaraswamy moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.‘I Have Faith in Law’Reacting to the final report filed by the Lokayukta police on the charge-sheet filed against him for his alleged involvement in a land denotification scam, former chief minister and JD (S) president H D Kumaraswamy reacted, “I have faith in law and will judicially object to the report filed by the Lokayukta police.”Revealing that the Lokayukta police had prepared the report yielding to political pressure, he said, “Unlike former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, I have not received any cheque or land for denotification. While the Lokayukta police prepared a report against Home Minister R Ashok and Housing Minister Somanna, who are direct beneficiaries of the denotification, the officials have charge-sheeted me. This indicates the pressure imposed on the officials.”
