Satna (Madhya Pradesh): A Class VIII student of a government school in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district died on Thursday when he was shot by his senior inside the school.
Police said a Class X student shot his 15-year-old junior with a country-made revolver in Chorbani village after a scuffle. The injured student was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The incident took place at the Chorabarry Higher Secondary School, 40 km from Satna district headquarters, during the school examinations, IANS reports. The Class X student has been arrested, the police said.
The exact cause of the quarrel was not yet known, Satna Superintendent of Police Kamal Singh Rathore told PTI. Police have registered a case and investigations are underway but no arrests have been made so far.
This is the second report of a student killing his schoolmate with a gun inside school. On December 11 last year, a Class VIII student of an elite school in Gurgaon died when two of his classmates allegedly shot him five times at point blank range.
