BELGAUM: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda expressed his ignorance at the controversial board erected at Yellur village, which says that the village belongs to Maharashtra. While addressing the press on Monday he said he did not know about the board that claims the village is part of Maharashtra.“I will speak with the deputy commissioner about the issue,” was his reply.He criticised Belgaum City Corporation for not passing a resolution to congratulate Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekhar Kambar.However, he was silent when asked whether the government would intiate any action against the corporation. “Our government is not against any language but it believes that Kannada is the supreme language in the state,” Gowda added.He said that the demographics in Bangalore, which has a generous mix of various linguistic communities, never discriminated against them.‘No Legislature Session in Belgaum’CM D V Sadananda Gowda said that the winter session of the state legislature would not be held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum, which he added was because the building was not constructed fully. Gowda informed that work on its electricity connections and interior decoration are still to be completed.It must be remembered that Gowda’s predecessor, B S Yeddyurappa, had announced that the winter session will be held at Suvarna Soudha.
