New Delhi: Temperatures continue to remain low across north India. The cold claimed 18 more lives on Tuesday, taking the season's toll to 93.
Sixteen more people succumbed to the chill in UP and two more in Punjab as fog enveloped several places hitting road and rail traffic.
Delhi was slightly warmer with a minimum temperature of 9 degree Celsius, while Amritsar was reeling at 3 degree Celsius. Jaipur was warmer at 14 degree Celsius, but the mercury in Lucknow dipped to 6 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad district authority on Wednesday issued notice to 20 schools for flouting its order of keeping educational institutes closed in the wake of the cold wave.
So far, 61 fatalities due to cold and foggy weather have been reported in UP, 14 in Jharkhand, 11 in Punjab and seven in Bihar.
