CHENNAI: A 58-year-old woman was mowed down by a corporation lorry at Mandaveli on Tuesday.Adyar traffic investigation sources said R Periyanayagi, a resident of Valliampathy in Mandaveli, was returning home after buying vegetables, when a corporation garbage collection lorry that was reversing knocked her down on V K Road. Periyanayagi died on the spot. The lorry driver is absconding. Police have registered a case. Teacher ElectrocutedA young teacher was electrocuted at her residence in Puzhal on Tuesday.S Sandhya (23) of VOC Street worked as a teacher in a school in Red Hills and had a 10-month-old daughter. On Tuesday, she inserted an immersion rod in a bucket of water. She dipped her hand, later, to check wh-ether the water was hot. She suffered an electric shock and died.
