Corporation plan to solve waterlogging

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation will soon entrust an agency with the task of preparing a detailed project report (DPR) to draft a proper plan to solve the issues related to waterlogging.A decision in this regard was taken at a special council meeting convened here on Friday.“The civic body will soon identify an agency to prepare the DPR. The waterlogging varies with the geographical specialties of each area. So the DPR will focus mainly on projects for each zones under the Corporation,” Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, who chaired the meeting, said.It was Kochi Corporation Development Standing Committee chairman T J Vinodh who put forward the idea of a zone-wise study on issues related to waterlogging.“The preparation of a DPR is necessary if the civic body wants to include the projects in the second phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) , ” Vinodh added.
