The CPM is all set for the rally and public meeting, to be held in Mundur at 4.30 pm on Friday under the auspices of the Mundur area committee.
The rally will be addressed by CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan. CPM state secretariat member A K Balan, state committee member P Unni, district secretary C K Rajendran and Mundur area secretary Sudhakaran Master will also address the rally.
The rebels, who constitute nine out of 14 members in the Mundur area committee, will attend the rally. Only P A Gokuldas, the former area secretary whose demotion to the Kongad local committee has not been rescinded, will keep away from the rally.
Meanwhile, CPM state secretariat member Elamaram Kareem, who is the chairman of the inquiry commission to look into the appeal of Gokuldas, has been collecting evidence at the district committee office here for the past two days.
While Gokuldas was quizzed on Tuesday, the rebel area committee members have been asked to depose on Friday. On behalf of the official group, Elamaram Kareem collected details from district secretary C K Rajendran and P K Sudhakaran, the present Mundur area secretary.
The CPM rebels had pointed out that the suicide of wife of Gokuldas was investigated earlier by the then CPM district secretary P Unni and the case was disposed of. Subsequently, it was after Gokuldas got himself democratically elected as area secretary with a majority support in the area committee defeating the official candidate, that the suicide issue was raked up.
Elamaram Kareem will submit his report to the CPM state committee within a month.
