New Delhi: Justice still seems a long way away in the Nitish Katara murder case.
D P Yadav, the father of the main witness - Bharti Yadav, has refused to divulge her whereabouts - not surprising as she is the sister of the main accused in the case, Vikas Yadav.
The prosecution has now sought the Interpol's help in tracking Bharti.
Says Nitish Katara's mother, Neelam Katara, "I think this makes a mockery of the one-and-a-half months that he had taken from the court."
D P Yadav had assured the court that he would try and find Bharti, after summons and non-bailable warrants failed to get her to depose before the court. Now the prosecution is looking at other options.
Says prosecutor B S Joon, "We have approached the Indian headquarters of the Interpol to trace Bharti. Also an application under Section 82 of CrPC has been moved against her."
The court will now hear the prosecution's application, to declare Bharti as a proclaimed offender on July 19.
D P Yadav has made his intentions very clear. He met his daughter Bharti in UK but is not revealing her address.
His attitude, if he is allowed to get away with it, is a rather sad commentry on the entire criminal justice system, where an accused and his family is allowed to hold the judiciary to ransom.
