An ACB court judge on Sunday sent G Dasaratharami Reddy, a close relative of former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, to judicial custody till August 4.
He was then taken to the Charlapally central prison here. Reddy was detained in Tirupati on Friday night on charges of facilitating payment of bribe to CBI judge T Pattabhi Rama Rao for granting bail to the mining baron.
Dasaratharami Reddy is said to have confessed to ACB officials that he had acted as a mediator in fixing bail for Janardhan Reddy. He also said that Janardhan Reddy was prepared to spend up to Rs100 crore to secure bail.
He corroborated suspended judge K Lakshmi Narasimha Rao’s statement to the ACB that Janardhan Reddy was eager to get bail no matter the cost.
Narasimha Rao had, during interrogation, told ACB officials that he had offered Rs 15 crore to CBI court judge Naga Maruti Sarma for granting bail to Janardhan Reddy but Sarma turned down the offer. Later Sarma was transferred and Pattabhi Rama Rao was posted as CBI court judge.
Narasimha Rao then consulted Pattabhi Rama Rao who was dealing with Gali’s case. Another judge, Prabhakar Rao, mediated between him and Pattabhi Rama Rao. Karantaka legislators Gali Somasekar Reddy and TH Suresh Babu met historysheeter P Yadagiri Rao and retired judge TV Chalapathi Rao, who were acting on behalf of Pattabhi Rama Rao, at Necklace Road here and finalised the deal.
