New Delhi: The Delhi police has registered an FIR in the case of assault on a Delhi Police Assistant Superintendent of Police by a foreign national. A case has been filed under section of 186 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code at the Tughlak Road police station.

Delhi Police have started investigations in the case after the video of the foreign national slapping the officer on duty went viral. The identity of the women in question is yet to be established.

ASI Om Prakash in his statement to the police had said that he suspected the woman to be from Turkey. Cops had then visited the Turkey embassy on Tuesday and questioned a lady who had an invite for the program. But the lady was not identified as the same person seen in the footage.

Police have now asked the organisers of the event to provide details about the 250 people on the event's guest list.

The woman had slapped a the officer who was deployed as part of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's security detail, after she was denied entry to a book launch at the WWF auditorium on Friday.

In the video, the woman can be seen arguing with the officer, asserting that she should be allowed to go inside as she had registered for the event. She waits a while and grows furious when she does not receive any response from the officer.

She says, "You are going to lose your job; I'm telling you. I'm going to slap you."

She later slaps him in front of other Delhi Police officers.
