New Delhi: Overwhelmed by the response of people towards the odd-even scheme in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said "the scheme has been successful so far".
"I would like to thank the people who came forward to make Delhi pollution free. As per report, there are very less even-numbered cars on the roads. I am sure that in next five years people in Delhi will show the way to rest of the country in fighting the pollution menace," Kejriwal said.
"People in Delhi accepted the scheme whole-heartedly," he added.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, "People in Delhi will ensure odd-even formula is a success."
"When I went out for a morning walk, I found almost all the cars following the scheme except one. So, I am sure this scheme will be 100 per cent successful. People in Delhi are abiding by it. After 15 days of trial I am sure people will ask us to make this permanent," he said, while wishing everyone a happy odd-even day.
The odd-even scheme for private vehicles started in New Delhi on Friday. The move aims at reducing air pollution levels.
Kejriwal shared his car with other ministers, while Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain leaves for Delhi Secretariat in an E-rickshaw.
Transport Minister Gopal Rai was seen boarding a bus from the secretariat.
