THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday conducted an inquiry into the alleged lapse on the part of ATC at the International Airport here, in which the passengers of two flights had a close shave on Friday.The inquiry was conducted by Dorairajan, a senior official of the DGCA regional office in Chennai. It is learnt that the report will be submitted to the Director-General soon. Meanwhile, the AAI has temporarily moved the Tower Controller on duty following the incident.The lapse was alleged in allowing the Dubai-bound Emirates EK521 to take off and the Air Lanka flight UL 161 to land in a gap of seconds. The ATC had allowed the Emirates flight to take off at 11.10 a.m. and the Air Lanka flight UL 161 to land seconds later.The DGCA official inspected the ATC records on timings and the communications with the pilots of the two flights. The AAI had also assigned Joint GM (ATM) Shibu Robert to conduct an internal inquiry into the incident.
