Docs remove bullets from Mahajan's body

Mumbai: BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's body was taken to Mumbai's GT Hospital for autopsy on Wednesday after he succumbed to bullet injuries at the Hinduja Hospital.

Police sources said forensic experts at the GT Hospital removed the three embedded bullets from Mahajan's body.

While the police have already sent Mahajan's blood-soaked clothes for chemical analysis, the bullets too will be sent to ballistic experts to ascertain if they were the same ones were fired from Pravin's gun.

After the autopsy, Mahajan's body was taken to the BJP state headquarters at Nariman Point in south Mumbai, where it was kept overnight for BJP workers to pay their tributes.

Though the body was scheduled to be taken to the BJP headquarters at 2000 hrs (IST), the autopsy got delayed by nearly two hours.
