CHENNAI: A personal grudge between siblings ended in the tragic death of a Pomeranian puppy in the wee hours of Sunday morning. According to MBA student S Mohanapriya (25), her brother S Pushpanathan (40) had made a habit of coming to their home at Tambaram Sanatorium in an inebriated state.She further claimed that he had beaten the seven-month-old pup once before, when he was drunk. “I was studying for an exam late at night when I heard my puppy yelp. When I rushed to see what had happened I was shocked to see that his (Pushpanathan’s) foot was on its neck,” she claimed. That was when she raised an alarm and they attempted to save the animal. Sadly, the pup could not survive the inhuman treatment.In the morning, her brother S Jayaperumal (35) went to the Chromepet Police Station and attempted to place a complaint against their eldest brother. Apparently, his complaint was not given due importance and so he placed a complaint with the Blue Cross of India. General Manager of BCI, Dawn Williams, who attended to the case, said, “We went to the station and ensured that a complaint was registered. The body of the dead pup has also been taken to Madras Veterinary College for an autopsy.”Mohanapriya went on to allege that her brother, who worked as a lorry driver, did not come to their parents’ home after the incident occurred. She also indicated that this wasn’t the first time that he had shown violence towards pets. When contacted, a Chromepet police official confirmed that an FIR had been filed and they were looking for the accused. Once the results of the autopsy came back, an investigation would be mounted against him, he added.
