DVAC raids office of sub-registrar

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Monday conducted a raid at a sub-registrar’s office (SRO) in Neelankarai on Monday. Unaccounted cash of `47,690 was seized during the raid. A special team conducted the raid following several complaints of bribery against the officials at the Neelankarai SRO. The team seized an amount of `37,935 that was reportedly hidden under the table of sub-Registrar P Panneerselvam.Unaccounted cash was also seized from some private persons, P Prabhu, R Palaniandi, M Kamalakannan, Chinnadurai and J Abraham, allegedly employed by the sub-registrar, who paid them daily wages out of his own pocket.A case has been registered with the DVAC in this connection.
