CBI arrests Subhas Bhowmick for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh.
Kolkata: The CBI has raided the Alipore residence of East Bengal coach Subhash Bhowmick.
Bhowmick was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for taking bribe on Friday evening.
The famed former forward of the Indian soccer team was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh from a businessman near Calcutta South Club in the southern part of the city.
Bhowmick is an employee of the anti-evasion department of Central Excise. He has been taken in CBI custody and will be produced in the court on Saturday.
Acting on a complaint from the businessman that Bhowmick had demanded a bribe for favouring him in connection with a raid on November 30, the CBI sleuths laid a trap for Bhowmick and arrested him from the spot.
