Jamshedpur: Effigies of Raj Thackeray, chief of Maharashtra Navinrman Sena (MNS), were burnt in different areas in Jamshedpur in protest against his remarks on Chhat Puja and Biharis in Mumbai.
Hundreds of anti-Thackeray slogan shouting people burnt his effigies at station chowk and co-operative college campus. They also staged demonstration in front of Maharashtra Hitkari Mandal at Bistupur.
A police picket have been deployed near the Mandal office.
A delegation of JMM met the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum District and submitted a memorandum to the President demanding immediate action against Thackeray.
Meanwhile, Hamid Raza today filed a case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate under various sections of IPC against Thackeray for his remarks on Chhat Puja.
