The first Ekya School in the city, a joint venture of CMR Group of Institutions and National Public Schools, celebrated its first Annual Day amidst great fanfare and aplomb at the school campus yesterday. The theme of the annual day was Incredible India. The function was presided over by Tristha Ramamurthy, the Director of Ekya School, Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, President of the CMR Group of Institutions, K C Ramamurthy, Chairman of the Ekya Board of Governors in the presence of the Honorable Chief Guest for the event, Professor K E Radhakrishnan, Founder of Samudra Foundation and advisor to Bangalore North Education Society.Tristha Ramamurthy welcomed the gathering and informed the parents about the second Ekya School coming up at ITPL. This was followed by various cultural performances by the students based on the theme of Incredible India. The energy, enthusiasm and ambience of the event were in the true spirit of oneness — the spirit of Ekya.The dazzle of the folk dances, the melodious Rabindra Sangeet and the finesse at Yoga, all showcased by the students of Ekya School wowed the audience. Directed by teachers and styled by students the theme, Incredible India was a melange of music and dance. Energy fused Bhangra, Koli dance, Garba, fashion show etc were laced with such creative zing that parents were left gasping for a ‘once more.’The Annual day was a social and cultural combination of talent and creativity.Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, President of the CMR Group of Institutions emphasised that parents need to spend quality time with their children. Speaking about the greatness of India, the chief guest, Professor K E Radhakrishnan said, “This cultural display of talent portrays the greatness of our Indian culture. The students did an excellent job of showcasing the richness of our culture.”Located in the serene atmosphere of third phase J P Nagar, Ekya has an environment friendly campus in a way conducive for learning, keeping the child in mind. The Ekya School offers an integrated Global Curriculum from Grade I to VIII, wherein highly trained teachers use content that is developed and tested by a team of educators and researchers at National Public Schools and CMR Institutions. Ekya is a full-fledged K-12 school with only two sections per class. A crucial part of the Ekya experience is a small class size of around 30. Ekya is affiliated to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and will soon be offering the Cambridge International Certificate (IGCSE) in Senior School. The annual day celebration ended with the singing of the National Anthem. The parents of the students who were present in the auditorium were indeed beaming with pride for their children were part of an institution.
